IMPROV FOR ACTORS

Acting (Non-Musical) Department

Teaching Artist

Improvisation is the spontaneous creation of scenes or dialogue without prior preparation (which means no lines to memorize!). This course is designed to help actors find ways to break free from inhibitions and stumbling blocks that arise during auditioning, rehearsing, and performing. The class uses the same short-form games used in Improv comedy (think “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”). However, it's not geared toward becoming an Improv comedian, so there’s no pressure to “be funny”. These games are aimed at strengthening different skillsets, such as listening, teamwork with scene partners, and the ability to think on one’s feet. Most importantly, they are FUN!
